I am having ceramic tile flooring installed in my bathroom as well as my =
kitchen. The contractor is suggesting 3/8" joints. What is the =
difference between sanded and unsanded grout? Which do you recommend?

Thanks,

John

Thats an awfully big joint that would usually call for sanded grout.

I better check with the contractor. Maybe he said 3/16".
Would that make a difference? I will be using 12" x 12"
tiles.

Thanks.

Personally, I prefer as small a grout line as possible. Tile is glazed and
easy to clean, grout is not and tends to get dirty and stained easily, so
the less grout the better for me.
I would NOT go for 3/8" or even 3/16" if smaller were possible.
