When you turn the water back on, it creates a shock that looses up all the
crud in your system.
Install a whole house filter where the water comes into the house. It won't
help anything already in the system, but will prevent more from getting into
it. Well pumps can suck up a lot of crap over time. Most is harmless, sand,
minerals, etc. The simple fiber wound cartridge will stop it.
