What brands/ types of paint strippers dissolve the paint instead of making a
chippy sludge?

Thanks,
AB

Look for paint strippers containing NMP (N-Methyl-pyrrolidinone), GBL
(gamma-Butyrolactone), or DBE (Dibasic Esters). They work from the top down
which is to say, the dissolve the paint. They are VERY slow. You might
want to consider lye such as is found in on of the Peel-Away products but
these are really aggressive an, as you can imagine, really corrosive. You
will have to neutralize the residue on the surface after you have removed
the bulk.

Good Luck.
