hi i have a sears riding mower 17HP briggs engine i replaced the
starter battery turn the key and it want start engine want turn allway
around i took the plug out and engine spins like crazy whats the
problem im puzzled

You may have replaced the spark plug with the wrong type and since
it's too long it hits the piston and the engine won't turn any
further.

Or the starter is too weak to overcome the normal compression stroke.

Check all connections, too. Clean & tighten. Check battery cranking
voltage - should not drop below 10 v while cranking.

He only replaced the battery?

OP check cable connections on both ends of the battery cables. The
positive cable may seem tight, but check it at the starter. Check the
ground at the frame. They need to be tight.
